A. Yes. In 2011, the Part B premium is $99.90. Most Medicare beneficiaries have this premium automatically deducted from their social security check.
Q. Are there deductibles and co-pays with Medicare Part B?
A. Yes. In 2011, the Part B deductible is $140 (the amount you pay before Part B pays for your outpatient expenses). In 2009, the Part B co-pay was 20% of the Medicare Approved amount. For example if your doctor charged $150 to remove a mole, Medicare may only allow him to bill for $70. You would pay 20% of that amount, or $14.00
Q. Can I refuse Medicare Part B?
A. Yes, but it is NOT recommended. If you change your mind later and opt in to Part B,
you will need to pay a penalty.
