Medicare Part A Made Easy!
Watch the video. Enjoy the music and learn the basics about Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A basically covers inpatient care, such as hospitalization and inpatient skilled nursing care.
Here’s a little trick you can use to help you remember what Part A covers…
Medicare Part A covers medical expenses After you have been Admitted to the hospital.
Medicare Part A covers you:
- While you are in the hospital
- While you are in a Skilled Nursing Facility
Don’t confuse this with Long Term Care! Medicare is NOT Long Term Care Insurance and
does not cover Long Term Care Insurance (you must purchase that separately).
Also don’t confuse this with “custodial care.” Custodial care is “non-skilled personal care,”
such as help with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, eating, dressing, getting in and out of
bed or a chair, etc.) This may also include the kind of care that most people give themselves,
such as putting eye drops. In most cases, Medicare does not pay for custodial care. Custodial
care is often covered by Long Term Care insurance.
- Home Health Care (Usually needed after one or more hospital stays).
- Hospice Care Services
To help cover the costs of Medicare Part A, you need to get a Medicare Supplement insurance policy. With the right Medicare Supplement, all of the extra costs associated with Part A, such as the deductible, as well as your co-insurance will be covered.
